"Gentlemen's Apartment"
The Empire style of the early 1800’s promoted a design movement in architecture, furniture and decorative arts. This roombox reflects the Grecian and Roman symbols of Imperial Grandeur and ornamentation which were prevalent during this period. The somber coloring reflects a man’s taste. Stucco decoration and painted classical motifs enrich the walls, while the ceiling is plain. Soft lighting accents the interior. Provision is made for adding your own hanging chandelier. The approximate size is 14” wide, 14” high and 12” deep.

The Guys From Texas
"Casa Abuelita"
A 1/4" Scale Workshop by The Guys From Texas
2-Day, Intermediate Skill Level
If you've ever dreamed of having your own adobe house this is a lot easier than moving to Santa Fe. What it lacks in modern amenities it makes up for in old-fashioned charm. This project exterior has a courtyard and Ramada with saltillo tile and its base is trimmed with western red cedar. The interiors are viewed from 2 sides (fitted with Plexiglas) and can be accessed by lifting the exterior off its base. This makes finishing the rooms easier and allows you to add additional lighting at any time. There are 2 Kiva fireplaces, saltillo tile floors, a stairway and loft, several niches, and a large kitchen with a choice of wall tile patterns. This project also includes LED lighting from NovaLyte.
We'll complete the adobe exterior, aged wood trim and traditional blue windows (keeps the evil spirits out) on the first day. Short fingernails are required for the hand-done adobe technique. We'll wear gloves and get messy! On the second day we'll finish the interior which includes plaster walls, and viga beam ceilings.
Some tilework will need to be completed by students ahead of time and will be sent with a practice sheet and instructions 2 weeks prior to class (don't let the dog eat it). This should take 1-2 hrs. total to complete.
Techniques: a special adobe with integral color and how to glaze and age it, trowelled plaster interiors, scoring and embossing paper tile
Dimensions: 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 6 1/2"
Tools required: 12" cork-backed metal ruler, small plastic cutting mat, X-acto or similar craft knife w/ sharp blades, tweezers, small artists brushes, Crafter's Pick The Ultimate Glue.
Cost of workshop: $425 |

The Guys From Texas
"Tick-Tock Diner"
A 1/4" Scale Workshop by The Guys From Texas
2-Day, Intermediate Skill Level
This classic diner features a brushed stainless steel exterior with a façade that slides off for easy viewing and access to the interior. Students will have a choice of several colors of accent striping and signage for the exterior, and the project also includes a base with sidewalk and planting areas so they can add their own landscaping.
On the first day you'll finish the exterior and on the second day the interior. It slides out the back for easy finishing and includes a complete open kitchen with all the equipment we custom built exclusively for this project. Quilted stainless steel lines the back wall with exhaust hood. In the front there is a long counter with 6 stools and a waitress station. There is space at the ends of the counter and in front of the windows for you to add tables or booths. Patterned linoleum, tile, wall coverings, false doors, and menu boards are included and the space is lit by indirect LED lighting from NovaLyte. A choice of custom-made signs will be available: "Tick-Tock", "Nite Owl", or "Blue Ribbon".

A 3-day Workshop with a maximum of 12 Students
Required Working Space for each Student is approximately 2 1/2 feet.
Join Nicole and Judee for a class that will challenge your skills and expand your horizons!
